Ruth Connah

Ruth Connah emigrated from the UK in 1987 and settled in Western Australia.  Ruth has always had a variety of dog breeds in her life, including a malamute, rottweiller, bulldog and german shepherd.  When she wanted to get a dog after arriving in Australia she began to research what type of dog she preferred, and the golden retriever came up on top of her list.  After getting her first golden retriever Dexter in 2002 her lifetime love of the breed had begun.

Ruth joined the Golden Retriever Club of WA and attended show training classes, and began to enter Dexter in shows.  However he wasn’t keen on the show ring so Ruth ended up doing obedience with him instead.  Ruth realised she loved showing dogs and so purchased her next dog, Manta who also wasn’t keen on the show ring!  After Manta came Zena who was Conarhu’s foundation bitch, producing her special boy Butler, Ch Conarhu Gone with the Wind.  He won numerous show awards, and was also sire to many beautiful puppies. Ruth currently has 3 dogs – Ramble, and Mia, and puppy Swayze.

Conarhu aims to breed golden retrievers who meet the breed standard and have very sound temperaments, are gentle, loyal, loving and well socialised when they are ready to go to their permanent homes.  We also aim to provide information and support to all our puppy buyers at any time.

Our family was so blessed to have met Ruth when looking for a Goldie to join our family. Her focus is always the pups and their wellbeing. She was wonderful on our many visits with our children and reinforced with them the importance of their role in their new fur baby’s wellbeing and development.
We are overjoyed with our gorgeous boy Hudson and hope we are lucky enough to have another Conarhu puppy join our family in the future.

Ruth Connah is just amazing! Not only are her puppies beautiful she is so incredibly knowledgable. We did not know her well before we got our puppy, but she has welcomed us into the golden community with open arms and still gives us advice whenever we require it. A wonderful breeder!
